MAIA-L (plant patent 30,472) harvests 3-4 weeks after Golden Delicious and about a week before MAIA1. MAIA-L apples that meet quality requirements will be marketed as Ludacrisp®. MAIA-L fruit has a tropical flavor and some people believe it tastes like juicy fruit chewing gum. The tree structure is quite favorable to high density orchard plantings.
